Nowadays, the prevalence of hookworm infection and strongyloidiasis in many countries are still not clear and lack of management because of inadequate data of prevalence rates and intensities due to the different techniques used in different settings and populations. Environmental factors especially long rainy season may affect the decrease in prevalence of strongyloidiasis but not for hookworm infection. In Indonesia, the information on hookworm infection and strongyloidiasis are scarce. There have been few studies on hookworm infection and strongyloidiasis, and the data usually come from the studies of soil transmitted helminths infections (STHs). Based on the given context, this book, Environmental Epidemiology of Hookworm Infection and Strongyloidiasis in East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia discusses the prevalence of hookworm infection in East Kalimantan Province. Consisted of six chapters, this book discusses ecology, epidemiology, mode of transmission, diagnostic techniques, as well as management and treatment of bookworm infection.
