Physical agents in rehabilitation from reseach to practice
In writing the first edtion of this book I tried to meet a need that I believed existed-the need for a book on the use of physical agents in rehabilitation that covered the breadth and depth of this material in a readily accessble and easy to understand manner. I put together a text that leads the reader from the basic scientific and physiological principles underlying the application of physical agents to the resarch evaluating their clinical use and then to the practical details of selecting and applying each specific physical agent to optimize patientt outcome. The enthusiasm withwich the first and second edtions of this book were received-including complimentar comments, adoptions by many educational programs, and purhase by many clinicians-shows that the need was there and was met. In this new edition I have done my best to keep the best of previous editions while bringing the reader new and updated information and further clarifying the presented material. This book has always providedeasy-to follow guidelines for safe application of all physical agents. It has also provided the essential scientific rationale and evidence-based to select and apply interventions with physical agents safely and effectively. As the quantity research has increased, along with the quality, this text has become even more important for making clinical decisions. To keep up with the pace of resarch and new developments in the field of rehabilitation. I have added a number of new features to this edtions.
