Critical Thinking dalam Asuhan Kebidanan Berbasis Buku
Critical thinking and evidence-based practice issues are still relatively new for midwives and midwifery students. On the other hand, midwives are required to have high competencies in knowledge, attitude, and skills, considering that midwifery is a profession focused on saving mothers and babies. The best evidence-based care, now known as evidence-based practice (EBP), is essential to ensure standardized quality service and patient safety.
The process of critical thinking requires effective communication, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to overcoming selfish and closed attitudes by following established procedures. Midwifery students and practitioners need to understand the three key elements of critical thinking, which are RED (recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, and draw conclusions), as these elements serve to enhance critical thinking skills. Another skill that midwives must develop is self-reflection to recognize their weaknesses and strengths in providing care. Self-awareness, open-mindedness, discipline, and a willingness to consider the relevance of the actions taken are components required in the professional development of midwives.
One example of midwifery care based on critical thinking is the midwifery management developed by Varney. Midwifery management is a problem-solving process used as a method to organize thoughts and actions based on scientific theories, findings, and skills in a logical sequence or stages for decision-making that focuses on the client.
