In the human life cycle, the early stages since preconception, conception, pregnancy, birth, and the first two years of life are fundamental periods that determine the welfare of life in the following period. The current nutritional conditions of mothers and infants in Indonesia are concerning. There are still many indicators of maternal and infant nutrition and health that need to be improved. To support and accelerate the achievement of the goal of improving the nutritional situation of mothers and infants, efforts are needed to educate and disseminate the latest knowledge about various aspects of maternal and infant nutrition. The publication of this book can contribute to the dissemination of this information and knowledge.

This book is divided into six chapters, namely the first chapter explains the nutrition of pregnant women. The second chapter explains the nutrition of breastfeeding mothers. The third chapter explains Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD). The fourth chapter explains exclusive breastfeeding. The fifth chapter explains infant nutrition, and the sixth chapter explains the nutrition of mothers and infants in a special group, namely the vegetarian group. This book presents a comprehensive picture of maternal and infant nutrition problems and their solutions in order to improve maternal and infant nutrition in Indonesia within the framework of public health nutrition.

This book is intended for students of nutrition, reproductive health, public health, medicine, midwifery, and other fields in the health sciences. In addition, the popular language used in this book also allows the public, especially mothers, to read and apply the information presented in this book. Likewise, health activists and activists in the fields of education, programs, and advocacy can also benefit from the information and knowledge contained in this book.
