Mikrobiologi : Kajian dalam Perspektif Islam
The development of microbiology is said to have started with Anthony van Leeuwenhoek's success in making a microscope. The development of modern optical devices is actually inseparable from a pioneer inventor of optical devices in the golden age of Islam, namely Ibn Haytam. He wrote a book entitled Kitab al-Manazir or Book of Optics. The principle of microorganism research known so far is that introduced by Robert Koch so called Koch's fostulat. In fact, Koch's fostulat is similar to the research procedures that have been developed by Ibn Sina, 7 centuries earlier. Ibn Sina had formulated the existence of microorganisms and detected diseases caused by microorganisms 7 centuries before Western scientists thought about it. The productivity of Ibn Sina's thought is inseparable from his heart and mind that is never separated from Allah SWT.
Therefore, the author obsesses that microbiology taught in schools or madrasas should take uswah, theories and arguments that have been initiated by previous Muslim scholars, not merely according to the findings of Western scientists.
