Epidemiologi Penyakit Tidak Menular

Globally, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of death, including in Indonesia. This epidemiological phenomenon occurs at a time when infectious diseases remain a major problem. This situation is known as the double burden of health services and is a challenge that must be addressed in health sector development in Indonesia. The increase in NCDs negatively impacts the nation's economy and productivity. Treatment for NCDs is often time-consuming and expensive. Some NCDs are chronic and/or catastrophic, disrupting the economic well-being of sufferers and their families. Furthermore, one impact of NCDs is disability, including permanent disability. NCD control efforts will not be successful if carried out solely by the Ministry of Health without the support of all levels of government, the private sector, professional organizations, community organizations, and all levels of society. Academics, especially public health students, must understand the problem of NCDs and identify the main NCDs, both globally and in Indonesia.
