Field's : Anatomy Palpation and Surface Markings
As, a Consequence, Chapter1 has been re-written with a view to reflecting Current trends in relation to the underpining principles of medical practice:Further,it attempts to provide a more detailed analysis of nature of touch and its signifiicance in relation to the practice of the art of palpation. Throughout the remainder of the book, a different approach to the study of anatomy and papption skill has been adopted which more accurately reflects the study methods undertaken by students on many professionaly validated programmes throughout the UK.Because this approach is based on the principle that individuals learn best when they play an active part in the learning process, students are required to become more self-directed than before,to take a greater responsibility for their own learning and to engange in exploring the practical significance of their theoretical knowledge. To date, our experience indicates that whilst learners often find these methods more challenging initially, they eventually regard the as extremely rewarding and more enjoyable than the more traditional approaches to teaching which might have been encoutered during secondary education.
