Physical Therapy for Children {BW Fisioterapi}
In this edition of Physical Therapy For Children, the editors continue to use two conceptual models to guide the updating of existing chapters and the development of bothnew chapters. These models also guided the development of new technological information resources such as vidios of typically developing children and those with disabilites, as well as a dedicated website organized by the contents of each chapter. The conceptual models that guide our work include the International Classification of Functioning. Disability and Health (ICF)2 Of The World Health Organization and the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice3 of the American Physical Therapy Association. Descriptions of these conceptual models can be found in the opening Chapter on the evidence-based practice of pediatric physical therapy. We recommend that readers commence using this book with chapter I as a guide our philosophy, terminology, and conceptual fframework for physical Therapy For Children. The Guide Therapist Practice Should, of course, be used by all Pediatric Physical Therapists in developing Plans of care. We have, however,chosen to use theICF as our model of the disabling process, rather than the model used in the guide, because the ICF presents the dimensions of disability in a positive light, emphasizing activity rather than functional limitations, and participation rather than disability.
