One of the most challenging aspects of nursing education for students is building knowledge, understanding pathophysiology, and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice. Good nursing practice is based on careful clinical assessment. The ability to exercise good clinical judgment develops with experience, if this is supported by good skills in applying relevant theory. Students are hungry to master theory so they can apply it. This book emphasizes the clinical application of pathophysiological concepts in clinical practice, using relevant clinical case studies. The chapters in this book are designed to facilitate access to concepts that must be mastered to understand the disease process, and to facilitate holistic integration of concepts to develop a rational understanding of nursing care. Concepts that are important in the treatment of health problems are also included.
