Medical waste and infectious waste are products of hospital and pharmaceutical industry activities that can endanger other humans if not handled properly. Technological changes in the processing of medical waste and infectious waste are occurring rapidly in developed countries, where globalisation demands the participation of developing countries. As professionals in the field of environmental health, technological developments in the processing of medical waste and infectious waste present both challenges and opportunities that can provide alternatives for their management. One of the challenges faced by professionals in the education sector is the limited availability of references for students, particularly regarding environmental health textbooks, which are still predominantly available in foreign languages. The translation of this book is one effort to expand the body of reference literature, providing information on advancements in medical waste and infectious waste treatment technology.
