Dasar biologis & klinis penyakit infeksi (ed. 4)
This Fourth Edition of Biological and Clinical Basis of Infectious Diseases, prepared in conjunction with numerous editorial leadership changes, is a thoroughly revised and updated version. As before, this textbook is for the annual infectious diseases course for sophomore medical students that has been taught at Northwestern University Medical School since 1966. The advanced course teaches core concepts of microbiology, immunology, and infectious diseases in an integrated biological and clinical context. The infectious diseases course published the first edition of this textbook are all faculty staff at Northwestrn. The editors are fully aware of the view that microbial infections are etiologically and/or pathogenetically important in most human diseases, and that disorders have primary and secondary links to microbial infections. We believe that an increasing number of patients can live with impaired primary or secondary host defenses. This concept that the microbial-host relationship is the basis for the biological and clinical expression of infectious diseases will increasingly influence the practice of medicine. This remains the theme of Northwestern's infectious diseases course, previous and current editions of this textbook. Understanding microbe-host interactions and the continuum from basic microbiology to clinical infectious disease facilitates effective diagnosis and patient care.
