Basic Nutrition and Diet Therapy {BW Fisioterapi}
The bedside nurse, whose work is on a person-to-person basis, is in a unique position to improve the nutrition of individuals in all age groups. This text is intended especially for this type of nurse and for the student in the one- and two-year nursing programs. Certain emphases are made throughout the book: the involvement of many people and disciplines in promoting good nutrition; the importance of teamwork in caring for patients; the concept of planning modified diets on the basis of the nutritionally adequate normal diet; the necessity for correlating nutritional needs with dietary palatability, economic realism, cultural patterns, and individual food likes.
A topical outline is presented at the beginning of each chapter. Photographs and line drawings reinforce some of the concepts presented in the text, and illustrate the Four Food Groups as sources of the nu- trients. Questions and problems and a list of references, intentionally kept brief, appear at the end of each chapter.
