Basic trauma cardiac life support (BTCLS) in disaster
The INTC team has developed a new approach to managing cardiac trauma in disaster situations called Basic Trauma Cardiac Life Support (BTCLS). This approach is focused on providing effective first aid to victims of cardiac trauma in disaster conditions that are often limited by limited resources and infrastructure. BTCLS includes a series of simple medical actions that can be performed by emergency responders and volunteers with minimal training. These include rapid assessment, airway restoration, chest compressions, and use of an automated defibrillator if available. This strategy is designed to extend the window of opportunity to save the casualty by maintaining basic cardiovascular function until further medical assistance can be accessed. With this approach, it is expected that the survival rate of cardiac trauma victims in disaster situations can be significantly improved. In addition, BTCLS can improve community preparedness and response to emergencies, strengthen public health systems, and minimize the negative impact of major disasters.
