Penatalaksanaan malaria berat dan komplikasi
Malaria is still a major public health problem, with more than 40% of the world's population - more than 2000 million people - exposed to varying degrees of malaria risk in 10 countries. In addition, with the rapid means of modern transportation, a large proportion of people from non-malarial areas are exposed to the infection, and they may be seriously affected only after they return home. Plasmadium falciparum causes the most severe form of the disease, usually in the tropics. Infection by this parasite can be fatal if the disease and its complications are not recognized promptly, and active and appropriate management is not undertaken. This situation is complicated by the increasing incidence of P.Falciparum parasites that are resistant to chloroquine and other anti-malarial drugs. It is important to take immediate action, especially for high-risk groups such as young children and pregnant women. As the seriousness of this problem continues to increase. The World Health Organization invited Professor H.M. Gilles to prepare this aide-memoire on the clinical diagnosis and management of severe malaria.
