Teknologi Elisa Dalam Diagnosis Dan Penelitian
This publication has been prepared as notes for a short course over two weeks held at the Graduate School of Tropical Veterinary Science, James Cook University of North Queensland. The aim of the course is to provide practical information on current developments in the technology known as Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA). The course is designed to cater for participants with varying levels of previous experience. It is understood that many participants will require a variety of information. It is hoped that upon returning to their diagnostic or research laboratories, participants will be in a better position to understand and implement the assays that have been used in their laboratories. Others will be in a position to make decisions about whether or not to use new technology. Designing new assays is often more difficult than anticipated. It is often relatively easy to develop an assay that appears to give meaningful results. The initial assay can always be improved. If a test requires a certain threshold of sensitivity and specificity then improvement of the assay becomes more difficult. Appropriate cutoff values must be established to allow for interpretation of the results. These limit values must be ascertained by comparing the assay results with several reliable benchmarks. If the assay is accompanied by requirements such as the stability of all reagents and all components, and a form that will be attractive to the user.
