The main purpose of the fourth edition of the book Immunology: and Laboratory Procedures is essentially the same as the previous edition, which is to provide information on the basic principles of immunology and its application in the clinic. Science and technology in the field of immunology are developing at a very rapid pace, and this development has resulted in various new notions, both in basic immunology and in its application in the clinic. In this fourth edition, the author tries to adapt the contents of the book to new developments. In particular, changes and deepening of the basic concepts of immunology according to current theories, and their application to support diagnosis. In addition to emphasizing and deepening the various theories underlying the immune response according to the new understanding that is informed through each relevant chapter, the contents of several chapters have undergone many changes. A new topic that did not exist in the previous edition is added in this edition, namely Immunological Aspects of Tumors, because it is widely accepted that immunology has a significant role in tumor growth. Changes have also occurred in Section V on Laboratory Procedures, which no longer details various laboratory procedures step by step, on the grounds that developments and changes in laboratory methods and technology occur very quickly, and each laboratory will carry out according to the equipment and reagents available in each laboratory, so there is no point in choosing only one procedure in this book.
