This protein book discusses the function and classification of proteins, protein constituent monomers in the form of amino acids, followed by the type and formation of protein structures related to their functions. This section also explains the method of determining the structure of proteins and examples of studies of protein function and structure, starting with the M protein, which is a protein that plays a role in the infection process, and tyrosinase from cat fungi that plays a role in the browning reaction, in this section the case of protein structure determination through an unconventional approach to illustrate how primary and tertiary structure information is interrelated and helps in determining the structure. In addition, isolation, purification, characterization, and bioactivity of proteins are discussed. The streptokinase material discusses the development of streptokinase to provide a complete picture of the development of a recombinant protein. The discussion includes how we can obtain proteins through natural and non-natural (recombinant) sources. Recombinant protein production is an alternative to obtain functional proteins with desired properties and in desired quantities more efficiently.
