100 Tanya Jawab Mengenai Infertilitas
As reproductive endocrinologists and infertility physicians, it has been our privilege to care for thousands of patients over the past 35 years. In 1978 the birth of the world's first test tube baby, Louise Brown, ushered in a new era in reproductive medicine. Some of the things that patients and physicians remember are that Dr. Steptoe and Dr. Edwards achieved remarkable success performing IVF (in vitro fertilization or PIV) in unstimulated cycles. The last few years have seen remarkable changes in the practice of infertility. In particular, IVF has begun to take off as we have developed the integration of unstimulated or Natural Cycle IVF into our practice with great results. Although most US fertility practices do not offer this option, Natural Cycle IVF has been performed by fertility physicians outside the United States for many years. Clearly, unstimulated IVF will not replace stimulated cycle IVF, but 30 years after the birth of Louise Brown, there is a corresponding appreciation for the remarkable success. Infertility is an emotionally traumatic life event. Although medical advances in infertility treatment pale in comparison to the shock that infertility can have on a woman's or couple's emotional, spiritual, psychological, and physical health. Our patients have always been our best teachers. We hope that by sharing some of the questions we are frequently asked and their answers with you, the reader, we can help show you the way forward as you navigate your journey through infertility testing and treatment.
