100 Tanya Jawab Mengenai Kanker Payudara
It is a privilege to be involved in a great project like 100 Questions and Answers about Breast Cancer, Third Edition. The information provided is invaluable. When asked to write the foreword, I was grateful to be involved. Zora K. Brown is a leading speaker for women, especially minority women, fighting to end discrimination in health care and find a cure for breast cancer. Dr. Karl K. Boatman has served Baptist Medical Center INTEGRIS patients and medical staff for nearly five decades. He is a physician respected not only by his colleagues but also by the national cancer community. Breast cancer touches many lives. In the United States, there are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors. The chance of a woman being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in her lifetime is 1 in 7 and nearly 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. At some point, breast cancer will affect many of us and we will be left with many questions that need answers. This book provides answers to many of these questions about treatment and guidance for coping with and caring for the physical and emotional health of breast cancer patients. More than that, this book is both hopeful and inspiring. Zora, a two-time breast and ovarian cancer survivor, addresses even the most sensitive yet often overlooked subjects of sexuality and relationships with honesty and sensitivity. The appendix also provides links to information on topics including clinical trials and surgical treatments. A glossary provides simple explanations of key terms such as ductal carcinoma and "prophylactic mastectomy." In addition to being informative, this book is also an inspirational resource. Zora, who has fought and defeated cancer, is a role model and a committed advocate. She continues to push for greater access to preventive medicine and diagnostic tools. As the founder of several breast cancer and health care organizations, including the nationally recognized support group Rise, Sister, Rise TM for African American women with cancer, Zora is a beacon of hope. Her never-give-up spirit and powerful voice resonate throughout this book."
